July 13–17, 2026 Part of Kids Academy (Ages 5–9) No experience required. String Week introduces children to the magic of vibration and melody through hands-on exploration of string instruments. This week is perfect for curious beginners who want to understand how strings create sound. Students will explore ukulele as the main featured instrument, along with violin and cello demonstrations, learning how plucking and bowing create different tones. We focus on both rhythm and pitch while discovering how tension, length, and vibration shape musical sound. Who This Week Is For • Children ages 5–9 • No prior music experience needed • Creative learners who enjoy experimenting and building • Beginners ready to explore melody in a fun, structured setting What Students Will Experience ✔ Daily ukulele exploration and simple chord patterns ✔ Introduction to melody and harmony concepts ✔ Hands-on string instrument discovery ✔ Understanding vibration and how strings produce sound ✔ Science-based crafts connected to string tension and resonance ✔ Choir and solfège integrated into pitch training ✔ Circle rehearsal preparing for a final performance Students will explore both individual playing and group music-making throughout the week. Crafts and experiments will connect directly to the concept of how strings vibrate to create sound — helping children see and feel how music works. Through structured play and guided instruction, students develop: • Fine motor coordination • Listening skills and pitch awareness • Musical confidence • Foundational understanding of melody String Week builds the melodic foundation that prepares young musicians for future string, piano, or guitar study — all in a joyful and supportive environment.
